Young Professionals outlook@UDIA



Outlook@UDIA was established in 2000 to drive UDIA’s commitment to the active participation of young professionals (under 35's) in the development industry. As well as providing networking opportunities for those within the industry, Outlook aims to promote the industry within the broader community, encouraging young professionals to consider career’s within the urban development industry through engagement activites and promotion of the benefits of the wide variety of career pathways the industry offers.

Outlook and UDIA are committed to the support and education of young people, including professional development for those working in the industry, and guidance for those aspiring to a career in urban development.

Outlook@UDIA provides a great networking opportunity, whereby university students and recent graduates are able to connect with professionals currently working within the industry. Each of the Outlook@UDIA committee members are accomplished professionals within the urban development industry, from a diverse range of backgrounds; from Engineers and Lawyers, to Urban Planners and Recruitment Professionals. The committee member’s skills and experience cover a wide cross-section of industry related fields and professions.

The urban development industry offers a diverse range of employment opportunities spanning numerous disciplines. The varied range of career opportunities is a reflection of the industry itself, with projects ranging from new residential communities, to inner city mixed-use developments, to regional communities just to name a few.

The industry incorporates businesses of all sizes covering a diversity of activities, skills and technologies. It includes large private entities and firms, specialist consultancies, through to state government agencies and local government authorities.

Urban development plays an integral role in the way people live, work and play. Enthusiastic professionals are needed to ensure that urban development fills this role in a sustainable manner.
