UDIA Local Government Best Practice Survey

Two years ago UDIA presented a sundowner series highlighting Local Governments that were doing a good job in the approvals system to highlight best practice and improve the understanding of all stakeholders about the priorities of the development industry.
 
The challenge was how to identify those Councils that were displaying good or best practice. That was when it was decided to undertake a survey of UDIA (WA) members to capture the good practice of Local Governments .
 
We had initial discussions with key Councils in growth areas and the Institute of Public Works Engineers Australia (IPWEA).  A valid suggestion was to make it a 360 survey, with the first part looking at local government through the eyes of the development industry with the second part looking at good practice from the perspective of the local government.
 
With input from WALGA we have created the first of the two surveys and we would like your opinion on local government practice.  We recognise that local governments are structured differently but we have endeavoured to capture the activities through the following operational areas:

  • Planning

  • Engineering

  • Environment/Landscaping

  • Built Form  

The survey should take less than five minutes to complete as the sections which are not applicable to you can be skipped.

This survey will close on Sunday night February 1, with results being released at the UDIA WA Presidents’ Summit on February 13, 2015.
