A new $400 million fund to fast-track water pipes and power lines for new housing has been welcomed by developer groups as a critical first step to prevent Perth’s housing supply falling further behind.

But the Liberal party has called it “too little, too late” and declared the housing crisis is not over.

As revealed by The West Australian on Monday, the Housing Enabling Infrastructure Fund was the centrepiece of Monday’s mid-year economic review that also revealed a $3.1 billion budget surplus for 2024/25.
